Alagnak River

A classic Alaskan River to float and fish. This river offers all 5 species of salmon, grayling and trophy rainbow trout. This river gets has one of the most prolific sockeye runs in the world and they begin to run every year around the 4th of July. If you are looking to fish for sockeye salmon, I recommend floating this river the 2 weeks that follow the 4th of July. This river is a 4-7 Day float. You can spend days fishing the braids looking for those trophy rainbow trout, or you can fish the sockeye holes with all the brown bears as the whole river becomes sockeye heaven.

We have personally seen up to 30 bears in a day on the river with up to 100 bears in a trip. We focus on this river in July and also for opening day which is June 8th every year. We recommend this river to beginners and intermediate fisherman it is a great river for your first Alaskan experience. Give us a shout so we can book your Alagnak fishing experience.

American Creek

American Creek is one of the most prolific big trout and big char fisheries in Alaska, and inevitably part of evening conversations at lodges across the region throughout the summer seasons where they talk about catching world class trout on the tiniest of dry flies. American Creek meanders through Katmai National Park, you will meet bears that might have only seen a few humans in their lives as they decide to wander by your camp as you eat dinner or a moose will walk by as you cast a mouse pattern down the bank. You never know what you will see while floating this wild and extremely remote river.

The beauty is just the beginning, because it is a one in a hundred rivers where you will fish with the same flies that you use down on your home stream such as a elk hair caddis or a purple haze. This river is for intermediate to expert fisherman it can have tough wading throughout the river. Reach out and we will schedule your trip of a Lifetime on American Creek.

Moraine/Funnel Creek

If you are looking to catch Trophy Rainbow Trout and lots of them, then Moraine Creek is the river for you. The peak time of year is end of July through mid September when hundreds of thousands of sockeye salmon are spawning in the river. These salmon lead the rainbows into the river and you will have opportunities to hook into some Trophy Rainbow Trout while they are feasting on salmon eggs. When the trout eat all these eggs it gives them an opportunity to grow large and they can get circumferences of up too 18 inches during the fall.

This leads to some heavy and fat fish. Every year a few lucky anglers hook into a fish of a lifetime. This river is a great river for beginner and intermediate fisherman and is the quintessential Alaskan experience. We recommend this trip for those who have never been to Alaska before and want to get a taste of what bush Alaska can be like. Reach out and we will set up your trip of a lifetime.
